OK - I KNOW some of you have read this much anticipated final novel of the Twilight sequence.
What's the word? Are you putting it in your middle or high school library? Are you happy with the outcome? Do you think it was a weird twist to get it all worked out?
Let's talk about it!
I haven't read it yet but know the story - I forced a friends to tall me. I want to know what you guys think!

I didn't like it at all. I thought that the story fell really flat in the second half. Bella, who was already a "blank" as far as her characterization (the better to put yourself in her shoes and be adored by Edward yourself, of course), was not relatable at all as a character once her transformation took place. I felt like the charm of the books was completely lost when Bella was no longer just a normal girl. The Renesmee storyline was completely bizarre as far as I was concerned, and everything wrapped up a little bit too neatly. There was no risk to the characters at all - Bella transformed so easily, etc. The end was completely anti-climactic, with Bella basically saving the day, the end. Meyer may be considered the next JK Rowling by some, but as far as I am concerned, her characters and story lacked the depth that Rowling demonstrated in the Harry Potter series.
I already bought it for the library here at JMS, though. I didn't find it to be inappropriate, and I think my girls (and boys, actually, because I had boys reading it) will want to know how it ends.
PS. I should say that I was never a huge fan of the series. I thought the stories were definitely page turners, but Bella and Edward's relationship was so codependent that it made me uncomfortable. I hate to think that the students were holding it up as some great example of eternal love. I did enjoy the first two books more than the second two. And I'm a huge Jacob fan. :)
I loved the series after finishing Breaking Dawn, even though if someone would have told me that I would ever read a vampire and werewolf book, I would have been incredulous! The co-dependance issue is valid, but Renesmee reminded me of the very old book, Rosemary's Baby. What I did like was the growth of Bella into someone who could "save" others. Her confidence was so lacking throughout the first three books and the beginning of this one; so, to see her become such a strong person is a positive for the many girl readers.
I bought four copies for EGHS and they are all gone!
I loved the series, though none of the sequels compared to the first book. One of my biggest issues with Breaking Dawn was the deviation from Bella as sole storyteller. Book Two of this novel, told from Jacob's point of view, seemed to drag along forever.
I agree that the ending was anti-climatic, but the fact that everyone lived happily ever after forever made me happy too. We are buying copies for our media center--we can't keep this series on the shelves!
